Baby Quilt

Not strictly (or at all) card related I know, but I like to indulge in a bit of sewing now and again.

The pictures below are of a baby quilt which I've made for my sister who is pregnant with a boy who is due in a couple of months.

There are four different types of fabric. The white with the blue pattern was a pillowcase which belonged to my nan. She died a couple of years ago but I kept the pillowcase thinking I'd make it into something in the future so this was the perfect thing. Baby would have been my nan's first great granchild, she was a wonderful lady and would have loved to be around to see him so it was nice to have a bit of her in something for the baby.

This is my first quilt ever so it isn't perfect but I don't think it's too bad all things considered! It took me a day to make but I enjoyed it and will definitely be making more in the future as I quite enjoyed it.

And a close up of the fabric...

Another August Birthday

Shamefully I ran out of time to make my sister a birthday card and had to buy one. Yet another August birthday was just around the corner, so I made this card for my auntie. I really liked these papers and thought they would be suitable for an older lady (my auntie is in her 80's so I wasn't exactly sure what to do for her - didn't think a magnolia card would really have suited her).

I used the following:

  • Papermania Happy Days paper
  • Nesties - Labels fourteen
  • Penny Black Happy Birthday stamp here
  • Cheery Lynn leaf die
  • Flower from wild orchid
Hopefully I'll be able to make some more cards soon amongst the other bits I'm making. I still have a half finished little girls dress that needs buttons! I'll post a pic once I've added the buttons...

A Few Rushed Birthday Cards...

I don't know what it is about August but it seems that everyone I know seems to have a birthday this month. As is usual for me I always leave things to the last minute. Two of my closest friends have birthdays on the 11th and 13th, and OH's sisters 40th was on the 17th. On top of that my little sister is 18 in two days (still haven't made her card!).

Anyhoo, all three decided to go out on Friday so I had to go from the meal for the 40th to meet my other two friends straight after. I got back from work at 5.15 and had to make three cards and turn up for dinner at 7.30. I somehow managed to do it but it was really rushed and I know the cards could have been much better if I'd given myself longer. Never mind!

Anyhoo, here they are:

LOTV Wedding Card - NOT a Tilda for once!!

I'm sorry I haven't posted for so long, but to be honest I haven't made a card for ages. Where does time go?

This is a card I made for my sisters friends wedding which was today. I used a LOTV stamp and kept it all very basic. I really like some of the cards I've seen which are mostly white so that's what I've done here.

The layers are separated by foam pads to give it a bit of dimension, and I've used a MS PATP for the patterned edge. On each dot is a little white pearl with bigger ones in the four corners.

I didn't put a sentiment on the front as I thought it would wreck the simpleness of it, but there was some wording stamped inside.

Tilda in Key Largo

Afternoon everyone, I hope you have all been enjoying the sun!

Today I've used one of the Tilda stamps I was lucky enough to win - Tilda in Key Largo. I like this card, it looks very simple but I think it's nice.

I used:

  • MS PATP
  • Tilda in Key Largo Stamp
  • Bakers Twine
  • Magnolia Doily Flowers Die
  • Pro & Flexmarkers
  • Brads/Pearls/Flowers
  • Kraft Card
  • Spotty Embossing Folder

This Mornings Make

As it was my birthday on Monday I treated myself to the week off work. This morning for the first time this week I was able to make a card using one of the stamps I got for my birthday. I so wanted this one, I'd been waiting ages for it!

My plan was to use the beautiful Maja Designs paper pad I also got for my birthday with this stamp, but I quickly realised I have no promarkers which would get the right colour match for the paper. Sadly I changed my mind because the other paper is so beautiful I want whatever I make with it to be amazing, so I switched to different paper. I think this is a BoBunny one but these were odd sheets my mum gave me from a pad of hers so I'm not 100%.

Anyway, without further ado...

I used the following:

  • Tilda stamp
  • Promarkers
  • Wild Orchid flowers
  • Guipere Lace
  • Seam Binding
  • Glitter glue
  • Glossy accents
  • Pearls
  • Kraft card (& I think BoBunny paper)
  • Glimmer mist
I'd like to enter this card into a few challenges:
